"Intellectuals do not belong to any particular group, they belong to the nation and the state"

Bangladesh Digital University, Bangladesh Honorable Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Yusuf said, intellectuals were supposed to build Bangladesh after the victory in the war of independence, but we lost them on the eve of the final victory. If the intellectuals had not been killed, we could have reinvented ourselves. Intellectuals are the wealth of the state and the nation, they cannot become the wealth of any particular group. Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor said these things while addressing the chief guest at the discussion meeting organized on the occasion of Shahid Intellectual Day 2024 at the administrative building of Bangladesh Digital University, Bangladesh at Kaliakore, Gazipur on Sunday (15 December 2024). He also said that the struggle of Bengalis for their rights is very old and Bengalis have never retreated and never been defeated in the pursuit of these rights. In the discussion meeting, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor prayed for the souls of those killed in our freedom struggle, the mass uprising of 90s and the latest movement that shook us all in the July-August student movement. In the speech of the special guest, the honorable treasurer of the university, Dr. Md. Anwar Hussain said, Pakistani ruling group considered our progressives, teachers, doctors and other intellectuals as a threat to them, so they killed our intellectuals on the verge of final victory. University Registrar Muhammad Ataur Rahman Khan, General Education Department Lecturer Md Chanaullah spoke among others in the discussion meeting. Chairman, Proctor, faculty, officers and employees of various departments were present at this time.
